Doha: The Qatar Digital Government Training Program (QDGTP) of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) has started its training plan for the second half of 2021.
The Q3 and Q4 training plan, which began earlier this month, includes 96 training sessions covering 55 technical topics; 30% of which are being added to the plan for the first time, to which are added topics on information security and databases to be carried out with large technology companies like Microsoft and Oracle.
QDGTP pays great attention to tailoring its training plans, as they set a roadmap to help employees and IT professionals in government entities to further refine their skills and knowledge at the personal and professional levels and to get more professional certifications.
According to data from QDGTP, the number of applications to join Q3 and Q4 courses has so far reached 1835 received from some 52 entities, while the total number of training places is expected to reach over 1450. QDGTP said that it will provide participants with some 870 Microsoft course test vouchers during these new courses.
For the Q1 and Q2 courses, which were launched on November 28, QDGTP delivered 121 training courses and 195 certificates to trainees. The total number of training places made available was 1,715 and the number of trainees rose to 1,056 from some 68 government entities, while the total number of applications reached 3,020.
During the first half of 2021, the Individual Training Plan (ITP) tool was implemented for the first time via QDGTP LMS. The total ITP registered in LMS reached 1,760. ITP is one of the most important tools in the field of training and development which helps to achieve training goals through its proper use.
QDGTP also offered exam vouchers and refunds to facilitate certification. And by organizing virtual trainings due to the COVID-19 situation, the QDGTP managed to double the number of planned trainings by adding more. The number of training courses increased from 59 in Q1 and Q2 2020 to 121 during the same period 2021.
The QDGTP Q1 and Q2 training plan had seen a great collaboration with nine prestigious providers of IT and training solutions. Among the scheduled courses, 58% of the courses were presented to the target audience for the first time.
One of the key achievements of the first half of 2021 was to offer specialized training courses to meet certain specific needs and requirements of some seven entities at the rate of 10 training courses and nearly 115 training places. The QDGTP also conducted a special course around “Evolving from smart cities to cognitive cities” in collaboration with Huawei during the first half of 2021.
QDGTP focuses on supporting the digital transformation of government sectors in Qatar by providing training solutions focused on improving the skills and capacities of ICT professionals in government entities. It aims to develop the new skills that ICT professionals need to meet desired performance standards for their roles.
