Playa Guiones, Province of Guanacaste–(Newsfile Corp. – May 27, 2022) – Surf coaching resort, Surf Simply, has announced the rollout of a specially designed technical training program that aims to give new surfers and former surfers a better understanding of the sport. The week-long, all-inclusive courses abandon the traditional “learn to stand” training that continues to be used today and infuse the use of a more logical analytical approach that demystifies surfing, empowering people of all ages and of all abilities to enter the sport.
According to senior station officials, Surf Simply’s new program makes full use of video presentations and technical reviews in language that cuts through traditional surf jargon. Ru Hill, founder and CEO of the resort, shares that the new program is presented in a more organized way to learn to surf, all wrapped into a week-long stay at the resort and also makes full use of educational add-ons such as video commentary, theory lessons and in-water coaching.
“Good coaching is important as you progress because many technical aspects of surfing are very counter-intuitive. So why not expect as much from a professional surf coach as from a coach in other more traditional sports? like golf or tennis? A surf coach should be a qualified teacher, an eloquent communicator, not to mention an expert in ocean safety,” he shares.
To date, the program is already reporting an overwhelming response from veteran surfers and new surfers alike, all eager to learn to surf through the resort’s offering. Surf Simply, which accommodates just 12 people a week, has 35 resort staff, including 9 ISA and ILSF certified surf coaches. The program is usually booked up to 18 months in advance.
Hill also reveals that even before guests arrived at the resort, the instructors had already developed a program tailored to them. The technical expertise of their coaches is unrivaled evidence including the inclusion of one of their in-house coaches as a special consultant for the World Surf League.
Apart from surfing lessons, the resort also offers other activities such as massages, stretching lessons and food tastings, as well as additional activities such as stand-up paddleboarding, ziplining or horseback riding.
“Completing the week-long program will leave you filled with enthusiasm and a solid understanding of the sport, having received the most enjoyable surf coaching available at one of the safest, most scenic and safest surf spots around. most consistent in the world,” Hill concluded.
