Paul Bunyan Dog Training Association to Host 11th Annual Dog Show – Bemidji Pioneer

BEMIDJI – The Paul Bunyan Dog Training Association will hold its 11th annual United Kennel Club Licensed All Breed Dog Show from Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11 at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds, 7223 Fairgrounds Rd. NO.

The three-day event opens with a rally obedience competition at 8 a.m. and two conformation shows starting at 9 a.m. each morning. All shows are located in the Beltrami County Fairgrounds Commercial Building. Approximately 130 dogs will compete throughout the event for Best in Show, Rally Obedience and Total Dog awards.

According to the United Kennel Club website, the UKC Total Dog philosophy emphasizes dogs that shine in multiple disciplines. A healthy, well-behaved, well-adjusted dog can easily transition from the show ring to a performance event.

They look like they excel as a suitable specimen of their breed, while having the brains and ability to perform athletically in a variety of sporting events. To win a Total Dog award at a UKC show, a dog must place in performance and conformation on the same day.

Apple Blossom Kennels will hold two precision lure racing trials on September 10 and 11 in conjunction with the Paul Bunyan Dog Training Association dog show. Trials begin at 10 a.m. each day.

During the event, food and beverages will be provided by Kazo Concessions. A Twin Cities-based artist will also make an appearance to create artwork for any interested viewers or exhibitors.

The event is free and spectators are welcome, but event organizers are asking people to leave their pets at home, as club rules state that unregistered dogs cannot be at the show.

If you would like to show your dog at the UKC dog show or for more information, contact Kathy Lamping at (218) 760-3763 or the Paul Bunyan Dog Training Association through their website www.pbdta.com.
