New Virtual Program For Addiction Recovery – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A new statewide addiction treatment option, Be Well Texas, has launched virtual services for those seeking recovery from substance use disorders and mental health issues.

In partnership with UT Health San Antonio, services are provided under the supervision of physicians certified in addiction medicine and psychiatry.

They include assessment of substance use disorders, psychiatric assessment, evidence-based counseling, medication management, peer recovery support, case management and pharmacy services and labs throughout Texas.

Be Well Texas is the first virtual addiction medicine clinic established by UT Health San Antonio and the first of its kind in Texas to offer a no-pay option.

“This is the kind of care that might not normally be available to people with limited resources. Our goal really is to make sure that your ability to pay is not a factor or a problem so that you can get great care. Said program director Karla Ramirez.

Solutions like the Be Well Texas virtual clinic are urgently needed as the COVID-19 pandemic worsens the opioid crisis.

Many people with addiction remain isolated and have been cut off from traditional support networks.
