MindEdge launches HR Skills™, a new multi-certificate training program for HR professionals | national news

BOSTON, January 31, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Edtech Company MindEdge Learning today announced the launch of HR Skills™, a new multi-certificate program designed to prepare learners to excel in the growing field of human resources. The new HR Skills™ brand is powered by MindEdge and will offer two mini-certificates: one giving students the opportunity to learn the basic requirements of the HR profession, and the other helping them build on this foundation by establishing the interpersonal skills necessary to be a successful human resources professional, manager or supervisor.

The need for a program like HR Skills™ has never been clearer.

Drawing on MindEdge’s extensive experience in providing high quality HR training and exam preparation courses, HR Skills™ is founded on the belief that successful HR professionals need two distinct skill sets: fundamental expertise in HR functions such as interviewing and onboarding; and well-developed interpersonal skills such as communication and leadership. “At its core, human resources is about people,” said Jennifer Adams, general manager of skill brands at MindEdge. “To succeed in the field, understanding HR fundamentals is essential, but it is not enough. HR professionals and managers must also know how to interact with people, communicate effectively and foster a positive organizational culture.”

The need for a program like HR Skills™ has never been clearer. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for HR professionals and managers is as high as or above the national employment growth average for all other trades, with an average of 73,400 openings expected each year through 2030. The responsibilities of HR professionals are vast, varied and, with many HR functions now remote, are changing rapidly. Given these challenges, training in basic skills and best practices is essential for anyone interested in pursuing or further developing their career path in HR.

HR Skills™ courses are self-paced online learning experiences. As such, they are ideal for individual learners – both those new to HR and veterans looking to expand their knowledge base or move to the next career level. But they are also well suited for use as a stand-alone organizational training program.

“These certificate programs can meet multiple organizational needs, allowing HR departments to focus on the most pressing priorities within the organization,” said Jefferson Flanders, President and CEO of MindEdge Learning. “At a time when professional training has become a highly valued perk for employees, these courses provide organizations with a competitive edge in attracting and retaining top talent.”

The first mini-certificate, HR Skills™ Best Practices, will be launched in February 2022. It will focus on the behaviors, practices, and approaches that enable HR professionals and leaders to foster better relationships, communicate effectively, provide helpful feedback, and navigate difficult situations. It includes eight courses:

  • Coaching for HR
  • Progressive discipline
  • Performance evaluation (SMART goals)
  • Conflict resolution for HR
  • Manage difficult conversations
  • Communication and HR
  • Management and HR
  • Problem solving

The second mini-certificate, HR Skills™ Fundamentals, is expected to launch in May 2022. It will provide learners with a solid foundation and understanding of the fundamental skills needed to start a career in human resources. It includes eight courses:

  • The hiring process
  • Interview
  • Integration
  • Training and development
  • Data interpretation
  • Effective meetings
