A new program approved in May by administrators at Nebraska State College gives exercise science students at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne a streamlined transfer process as part of the Sports, Fitness, and Sports Management Diploma. recreation at Chadron State College.

Students in one of LCCC’s 4 exercise science options can enroll in one of CSC’s 5 programs: Community Recreation & Adventure, Sports Leadership, Strength & Fitness, Fitness & Wellness and preparation for athletic training.

CSC Department Chairman Dr Scott Ritzen considers the program to be a perfect fit, as most of the lower division classes at both schools match well, leaving only the upper division CSC classes for transfers.

Ritzen thanks LCCC teacher Erin Nitschke for contacting him about two years ago about a transfer program.

Catalog changes, approval of the new strength and conditioning option at CSC and the pandemic caused some delays, but the deal was finally approved by both colleges earlier this spring.
